Acropolis of Athens
The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel that is located on the rocky outcrop, above the city of Athens, Greece.
Containing the ancient remains of great architectural and historical significance with the most famous being the Parthenon.
The word “Acropolis” comes from the Greek word of “Akron” the highest point, extremity and “polis” meaning city.
There is evidence that the hill was inhabited as early at the 4th millennium BC however it was Pericles (495-429 BC) in the fifth century who co-ordinated the construction of the buildings. The present remains are the site’s most important ones.

The Acropolis Museum

Kalimarmaro
Kalimarmaro. Also known as The Panathenaic Stadium, this is a multi-purpose stadium in Athens, Greece.
One of the key historic attractions within Athens – this is the only stadium in the world that is built entirely of marble.
Originally constructed in a rectangular shape in 330BC by the Athenian statesman Lycurgus.
Being completely rebuilt with white marble, in a horseshoe shape, by Herodes Atticus in 140-144 AD before being restored again in 1895-1900 to host the first modern Olympic Games.

Lycavettos Hill
Mount Lycabettus is the highest point in central Athens with breathtaking, panoramic views – including the Acropolis.
(Also known as Lycabettos, Lykavittos or Lycabettos.)
Located 277 meters above sea level and with lush pine trees completely covering the base and park.
How To Reach The Top.
Climb The Hill. Starting off by foot – it’s a long climb! Most steps are easy to navigate. Once you get past halfway, the ascent becomes easier.
Cable. Don’t want to go by foot? No problem – there is a cable car that takes you to the top. Open all year and in summer, operates until midnight.
Car. Follow the Lycavettos ring road and at the end, you’ll find a large parking lot where you can sit, relax and enjoy the views.
Next to the car park, there’s an open theatre where seasonal and summer musical concerts and performances take place.
